Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (EITC), the holding company behind UAE-based telco du, officially launched Virgin Mobile on Tuesday, bringing the first fully digital mobile service to the country.

The Virgin Mobile UAE app, which can be downloaded via the Google Play and Apple App Store, enables users to purchase mobile phone lines without the need for a contract. It also offers customized mobile plans and phone number selection. SIM cards can also be delivered to UAE subscribers within an hour.

“As one of the world’s fastest growing markets, with an increasingly tech-savvy consumer base, the UAE was the perfect choice to launch our digital strategy,” Karim Benkirane, managing director of Virgin Mobile, told Argaam.

“The launch for our digital strategy symbolizes a paradigm shift in the mobile industry and truly disrupts the digital landscape in the region. One of our main aims is to make mobile simple, giving customers the power to manage their own mobile plans with the flexibility to change anything in real time,” he added.
