Saudi Arabian security forces have foiled a terrorist plot by the Daesh group targeting the Kingdom's ministry of defense, Saudi Press Agency reported citing an official source on Tuesday.
State security forces managed to arrest two would-be suicide bombers identified as Ahmed Al Kaldi and Ammar Mohammad, both Yemeni nationals living in Saudi Arabia with fake names, before they could reach their targets, the source added.
Forces also captured two Saudi nationals who are being investigated for possible involvement with the two Yemeni suicide bombers. The names of the Saudi nationals have not been released.
The security operation resulted in uncovering a training site for the terrorist at Al Rimal neighborhood in Riyadh. Two explosive belts, each weighing 7 kilograms, nine hand grenades and other weapons were seized.
The state security also announced the capture of an intelligence cell consisting of a number Saudi and non-Saudi men working with foreign agencies against the Kingdom’s security.
Both cases are currently under investigation, officials added.
