Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) has granted budget carrier Flyadeal an air operating license that will enable the airline to operate domestic and international flights to and from Saudi airports.
The airline obtained the license after fulfilling economic and regulatory requirements and complying with air safety standards, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted GACA’s president Abdulhakim Al-Tamimi as saying.
He added that new airlines in Saudi air transport market have shown positive and encouraging indicators, and are expected to help achieve a balance between supply and demand.
GACA announced the establishment of Flyadeal in April last year as a low-cost carrier. The airline will undertake its first trip on Sep. 23, the Kingdom’s National Day.
