Saudi Arabia will not lift a ban placed on Whatsapp and Viber apps video calls, Sabq newspaper has reported, citing unnamed sources.
This was attributed to regulatory reasons. However, the ban will be lifted on other apps such as Facetime, Snapchat, Skype, Line, Telegram, Tango and Facebook Messenger.
The Saudi minister of communications, Abdullah Al Swaha, lately directed the chairman of Communications & Information Technology Commission (CITC) to lift the ban placed on voice and video call applications in the Kingdom as of Sept. 20, Argaam reported.
