Russia maintained its position as China’s biggest crude oil supplier in August for the sixth consecutive month, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing Chinese customs data.
Oil shipments from Russia came in at 4.426 million tonnes for August, or about 1.04 million barrels per day (bpd), down 4.5 percent year-on-year (YoY).
Russia’s volumes rose 13 percent YoY to 38.65 million tonnes, or 1.16 mbd, the data showed.
Angola was China’s second largest supplier in August, followed by Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom’s crude exports fell 16.2 percent YoY to 3.657 million tons, or 861,200 barrels per day (bpd).
Saudi oil exports to China declined 1.7 percent YoY in the period from January to August 2017, to 34.24 million tons (1.03 mbd).
