World’s biggest carmakers target Saudi women with new ads

The world’s biggest car companies have rushed in to welcome Saudi Arabian women to the driver’s seat with new advertisements after the Kingdom lifted its ban on female drivers last week.

For years, the ban on women driving has created a negative image for international businesses or foreign investors wishing to operate in Saudi Arabia. Last Tuesday, however, King Salman issued a decree allowing women across the Kingdom to obtain driving licenses if they wish to do so. The move has been long-awaited by many Saudi women, as well as rights activists. Although it has received some backlash from ultra-conservatives in the Kingdom, economists and investors have welcomed the decision as a catalyst that will help make the Saudi economy healthier and more competitive.

Companies like Nissan, Ford, and Land Rover are already preparing to lure in female car buyers to capitalize on the decision. Argaam has compiled a list of some of the carmakers and their slick new adverts below.
