Saudi Aramco on Sunday opened its new office in India, located in the city of Gurugram, Haryana, Indian oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on his official Twitter account.
The office was jointly inaugurated by Pradhan and Amin Nasser, Aramco’s president and CEO.
“Saudi Aramco is the largest supplier of crude to India and is planning to expand operations in India by introducing more services,” Pradhan said.
Aramco is also considering the establishment of a research and development (R&D) center in India to leverage the country’s workforce, the minister added.
The establishment of Aramco’s Indian subsidiary comes as the world’s top crude exporter seeks to tap demand and invest in the world’s third-biggest oil consumer.
The unit will look for opportunities to acquire stakes in refining and petrochemical projects in India, Reuters reported last week.
