Nesma Telecom & Technology, a subsidiary of Saudi-based Nesma Holding, plans to introduce digital telecom towers that can handle GSM coverage of multiple telecom operators to the United Arab Emirates, in partnership with Dubai’s Eurostar Group.
The towers will reduce the cost of operation, maintenance, and land utilization, while also helping cut down power consumption, Nesma Telecom said in a statement.
“In the UAE, these towers can carry calling distribution devices for both Etisalat and Du at the same time,” said Salah Sami Al-Sunaid, chief executive of Nesma Telecom.
The design of the towers will be different from traditional towers, and can be used for advertising and promotion purposes, he added.
Nesma Holding is seeking new investment opportunities and partners in the UAE, the statement said.
The Saudi company participated in the recently held Gitex Technology Week in Dubai for the first time, as part of its expansion plans to tap into new markets.
