State-run Saudi Aramco is planning to launch a new car industry that covers all types of energy mix, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday, citing Khalid Al-Falih, minister of energy and chairman of the giant oil producer.
The new vehicles will include hydrogen-based fuel cell vehicles.
The local energy mix will be composed of high-efficiency oil and gas, renewable and nuclear energy, along with hydrogen, Al-Falih said in a speech at the “Future Investment Initiative”, organized by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The move comes in line with the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance the energy sector, reduce emissions, and develop advanced technologies for energy sustainability, Al-Falih added.
