Expat remittances from Saudi Arabia drop to 6-year low in Sept.

Remittance outflows by expatriates in Saudi Arabia declined by 21 percent year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 8.55 billion in September, hitting a six-year low, data issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) showed.

 

On a monthly basis, expat remittance outflows fell by 32 percent, or SAR 4 billion.

The Kingdom earlier said that it does not plan to impose taxes on expat remittances.

 

Remittances sent by Saudi nationals to other countries declined 8 percent YoY to a total of SAR 3.81 billion in September.
