The Central Asian country of Uzbekistan may attend the upcoming meeting of OPEC and non-OPEC producers in Vienna on November 30 as an observer, said Saudi energy minister Khalid Al-Falih.
“Uzbekistan has responded (positively) to participating at the Vienna meeting this month, and has expressed its readiness to attend as an observer,” Falih said on his Twitter account.
Uzbekistan produces nearly 594 million barrels of proven crude oil reserves. In 2015, its total petroleum and other liquids production stood at 78,900 barrels per day (bpd), according to the EIA.
Meanwhile, Al-Falih added that more efforts are still needed to cut inventories, following a meeting with his counterparts from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Tashkent on the sidelines of the 51st meeting of the Electrical Power Council of the CIS.
OPEC, Russia and other oil producers will meet in Vienna to decide whether to extend the current agreement, which expires in March 2018.
