Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) on Tuesday resumed operations at one of its facilities in Jeddah after a brief outage, Reuters reported.
"We experienced technical problems in one of our facilities in Jeddah, which led to power loss in some areas within the cities of the west coast," company spokesman Humood al-Ghobaini was quoted as saying.
SEC took advantage of the shutdown time to carry out some maintenance work before next summer, when demand for air-conditioning peaks during hot weather, he added.
The company did not disclose reason behind the technical glitch at the 2,700 megawatt (MW) plant.
