The Saudization of gold shops in the Kingdom is expected to provide 20,000 job opportunities for nationals, Okaz newspaper reported, citing Khaled Aba Al-Khail, the spokesman of the ministry of labor and social development.

The ministry has ordered gold and jewelry shops to apply a decision issued in 2007 to nationalize the gold and jewelry sector. The law came into effect during the first week of this month.

Gold and jewelry shops that employ foreigners will be slapped with a fine of SAR 20,000 for each worker.
