SEC, Al-Safwa Cement sign deal for carbon ash recycling

18/12/2017 Argaam

The Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) has signed a deal with Al-Safwa Cement for the recycling of 60,000 cubic meters of carbon ash in Rabigh power generation plant to produce auxiliary fuel.

This came as part of SEC’s report on the impact of smoke on the environment, which was submitted to Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region.

SEC, together with the Arabian Cement Co., have installed treatment units to eliminate pollution, which reached less than 1 mg/m³ at the Saudi cement company’s plants.

SEC also installed air treatment equipment which reduced SOx and NOx emissions. Similarly, Arabian Cement replaced electric treatment units with highly efficient cloth filters at a total value exceeding SAR 75 million.
