Saudi Arabia launches plans to revamp state television

23/12/2017 Argaam

The Ministry of Culture and Information decided on Thursday to authorize the Radio and TV Corporation to prepare a plan to develop Saudi TV Channel 2 so it can properly and “professionally” address the world, Minister Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad said to the Saudi Press Agency.

In the meantime, transmission of Saudi TV Channel 2 will be halted until the plan is implemented.

The decision also included integrating Al Eqtisadiah with Al Ekhbariya to support the channel’s economic content.

Al-Thakafiyah Channel will be transformed into a public channel and its content will be developed.

The decisions come as part of the Kingdom’s push to address foreign investors, as well as global leaders as it moves to implement its social and economic reforms.
