Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) to provide fully funded training in plastic manufacturing at the Higher Institute for Plastics Fabrication.
The move comes as part of SABIC’s Nusaned initiative, which aims to promote investment in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and develop local content.
Under the MoU, SABIC will cover the training fees of up to 300 trainees working at plastic manufacturing firms for each semester for five years.
The petchem giant will pay the complete training fee amounting to SAR 4,000 per month, and will pay SAR 1,000 to cover part of the trainer’s monthly bonus.
Meanwhile, the Higher Institute for Plastics Fabrication will provide Saudi youth with specialized training conducted by experienced industry engineers, under the supervision of Japanese experts.
As part of the strategic partnership between the institute and TVTC, the latter will provide job opportunities to graduates at companies across the Kingdom.
