The UAE topped the list of largest sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) in the Arab region with assets standing at $1.3 trillion, SWF Institute’s data showed.
Saudi Arabia took the second position with assets valued at $717.9 billion.
Kuwait’s investment authority (KIA) came third with 18 percent of the regional sovereign asset pie, followed by Qatar (11 percent).
Other Arab countries including Libya, Bahrain, Algeria, Palestine, Mauritania, Oman own a combined $110.2 billion worth of assets.
The combined assets of all Arab sovereign funds amounted to $3 trillion, with Saudi Arabia and UAE accounting for 24 and 44 percent share, respectively.

Individually, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) topped Arab SWFs list with $828 billion in assets, followed by Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) with assets standing at $524 billion, Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) at $494 billion, while Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) came in fifth position at $223.9 billion.
