Uber starts ‘listening sessions’ with Saudi women

Ride-hailing app Uber has commenced “listening sessions” with several “influential” women in Saudi Arabia, a company spokesperson told Argaam.

 

“Our plans are already underway. We kicked off a series of regular ‘listening sessions’ with a number of influential female representatives in the Kingdom, with the first of these being led by our global CEO Dara Khosrowshahi,” the spokesperson said.

 

Uber unveiled plans for a dedicated female partner support centre to enable women to drive on the platform in October last year, a month after the government issued a decree allowing women to drive. 

 

However, the ride-hailing company has not provided any details so far on the number of female drivers it plans to hire.

 

The US-based company launched operations in the Kingdom in 2014 and its services are currently available in 18 Saudi cities.
