TASI hits 27-month high on improved oil prices

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed yesterday’s session at its highest level in 27 months at 7,532 points, even surpassing its July 2017 peak of 7,486.

 

The Saudi benchmark ended Tuesday’s session at 7,532 pts, 39 percent higher than the 5,416-point trough recorded on Oct. 3, 2016, the worst market close since March 2011.

 

The index has been gaining momentum lately on oil prices hovering near the $70-per-barrel mark.

Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG) was the top gainer during the period, surging 258 percent.

 

It was followed by United Electronics Co. (eXtra) and Al Rajhi Company for Cooperative Insurance (Al Rajhi Takaful), which jumped 241 percent and 238 percent respectively.

Saudi Industrial Export Co. (SIECO) was the worst performer, plunging 37 percent. It was followed by the Mediterranean and Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance Co., which fell 34 percent, and Nama Chemicals (down 31 percent).
