Dubai-based Emirates on Thursday announced a deal worth $16 billion (AED 58.7 billion) for 36 Airbus A380 aircraft.
The deal includes 20 firm orders and options for a further 16, the airline said in a statement.
The new order brings Emirates' commitment to the A380 programme to 178 aircraft, worth over $60 billion.
The additional double-decker planes will be delivered from 2020 onwards, the statement said.
