Saudi Arabia set to tender Al Qunfudhah airport in two months

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) plans to tender Al Qunfudhah airport within 60 days, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, governor of Makkah, said on Makkah Region’s Twitter account Tuesday.

The aviation sector regulator had received the land allocated for building Al Qunfudhah airport last December, Argaam reported.

Initial studies estimated the total area of Al Qunfudhah airport at 21 square kilometers, with a 3,000-meter runway to allow small and medium airplanes to operate.

Media reports had earlier said GACA will offer the project through an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract instead of a public-private partnership (PPP).
