Saudi Arabia to allow electric vehicles: report

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has officially allowed the use of electric vehicles in the Kingdom, Aleqtisadiah newspaper has reported, citing SASO spokesman Tames Al-Hammadi.

 

Agents can start importing electric cars within five months, given that they meet regulatory requirements.

 

The relevant technical rules have been approved by the SASO board and will be effective as of July 2, 2018.

 

Last month, SASO said it would issue regulations for the use of electric vehicles in the Kingdom within six months.
