Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday said that a previously pledged $200 billion in US investments could end up at $400 billion when fully implemented.
Speaking at a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump, Prince Mohammed added that a 10-year window for implementing the deals is underway.
Prince Mohammed praised the Kingdom’s “really deep” relationship with the US.
The Crown Prince started his first, three-week official visit to the US on Monday night. He will be visiting New York, Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston to encourage investments.
Meanwhile, Trump praised Prince Mohammed as a friend of the US.
“Saudi Arabia is a very wealthy nation, and they’re going to give the United States some of that wealth; hopefully, in the form of jobs, in the form of the purchase of the finest military equipment anywhere in the world."
A senior Trump administration official told Reuters that the two leaders talked about the situation in Yemen and nuclear cooperation.
Separately, the Saudi Embassy in the US said the Crown Prince met US congressional leaders and discussed "countering the threat posed by Iran and the Iran-backed Houthi militias, efforts to address and alleviate the humanitarian situation in Yemen, the great transformation happening within the Kingdom as it is manifested in Vision 2030, and the Kingdom’s drive for economic diversification.”
Prince Mohammed later also met Jared Kushner, Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law, along with Jason Greenblatt—the two point men in the Trump administration overseeing Middle East peace efforts.
