Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday met Masayoshi Son, chief executive of Japan’s Softbank, to discuss a number of investment opportunities, according to a statement on the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The meeting in New York was attended by several chief executive officers and top executives from major American companies in which the Softbank Vision Fund has invested.
Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), is one of the main investors in Softbank's $100 billion Vision Fund, which is focused on funding technology ventures.
Last November, Bloomberg reported that Softbank intends to invest as much as $25 billion in the Kingdom in the next few years.
Prince Mohammed is currently visiting New York City and will attend a CEO Summit today.
The Crown Prince’s US visit is his third foreign trip this year following his visits to Egypt and Britain.
