US President Donald Trump has urged Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz to find a resolution to the ongoing dispute with Qatar and restore a united Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to counter Iran’s “malign” influence and tackle terrorism.
The two leaders spoke over the phone on Tuesday and discussed a range of regional issues, the White House said in readout of the call.
They also discussed opportunities to strengthen the American-Saudi strategic partnership.
Further, in a separate call to Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Trump reiterated his views on the need “to end the Gulf dispute.”
