Flynas inks $6.3 bln deal with CFM International

Saudi budget carrier Flynas has signed a SAR 23.6 billion ($6.3 bilion) agreement with CFM International for purchasing engines to power 80 Airbus A320neo aircraft.

CFM International – a 50-50 joint venture between GE and France’s Safran Aircraft Engines – will supply LEAP-1A engines to power the new aircraft, scheduled to be delivered from 2018.

The company will also provide long-term maintenance services.

Established in 2007, Flynas operates a fleet of 30 Airbus aircraft on more than 1,100 flights per week to 17 domestic destinations and 53 international destinations.

The Saudi airline signed an agreement with Airbus last year to purchase 120 new A320neo aircraft at a list value of $8.6 billion.
