Saudi government authorities are studying procedures to facilitate foreign investment in petrol stations across the Kingdom, to enhance competitiveness and improve service quality, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.
A study is being conducted about major challenges to the Saudi fuel stations along with the possible means to support local and foreign investments in the industry.
Several international firms are mulling these investments and conducting the required feasibility studies ahead of taking official procedures, the sources added.
As many as 14 firms are qualified to operate and manage petrol stations on highways in Saudi Arabia, including Petromin, ENOC, Saudi Automotive Services Co. (SASCO), Aldrees Petroleum and Transport Services Co., 7Plus and Petrolat, Argaam earlier reported.
