Nine people have been placed under arrest in Saudi Arabia on charges of attempting to “undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom, its social peace and national unity,” the Public Prosecutor's Office said in a statement on Sunday.
The five men and four women remains under arrest due to sufficient evidence against them, as well as, their confession to the charges brought forth, which require their continued detention, the statement added.
Seventeen individuals had been arrested in this case. Eight people were later let go on “temporary release,” until the completion of their procedural review, the statement said.
According to the statement, those arrested have admitted that they had:
- Communicated and cooperated with individuals and organizations hostile to the Kingdom;
- Recruited persons in a sensitive government entity to obtain confidential information and official documents to harm the higher interests of the Kingdom;
- Provided financial and moral support to hostile elements abroad.
