Leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan will meet on Sunday in Makkah to discuss ways of supporting Jordan to overcome its current economic crisis.
“Emanating from his care for Arab nations as well as his keenness to maintain security and stability, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has been following the economic crisis in Jordan and made telephone calls to King Abdullah of Jordan, Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for a meeting in Makkah,” the Royal Court said in a statement published by state-owned Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.
“They agreed to hold a meeting in Makkah on Sunday to discuss the means of supporting Jordan to overcome its current crisis,” it added.
Separately, the Jordanian news agency reported that King Abdullah II thanked King Salman for hosting the special meeting and confirmed the depth of fraternal and strategic ties binding his country and the countries participating in the proposed meeting, describing them as "never lagging behind when it is time to support Jordan at all circumstances".
King Abdullah II will take part in the meeting accompanied by Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, the heir apparent, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Arab Parliament speaker Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami thanked King Salman for his efforts to support Jordan and maintain its security and stability.
