Saudi Arabia’s air defense forces intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by Houthi militia in Yemen towards Riyadh on Sunday, the Center of International Communication (CIC) said in a statement.
"Saudi Royal Air Defence Forces intercepted and destroyed the missiles. Some of the debris of the intercepted missiles landed on residential areas, without causing any casualties," Colonel Turki Almalki, the spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, said in the statement.
Launching ballistic missiles towards civilian targets is in clear violation of the international humanitarian law and poses a major threat to international security, he added.
Earlier this month, the Saudi defense forces destroyed missiles launched towards densely populated residential areas such as Jazan and Najran.
