Saudi Saline Water Conversion Co. on Sunday inked a contract with Spain-based Acciona to build a water desalination station in Al Khobar, at a total cost of SAR 903 million, according to a statement on the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The new station will pump 210,000 cubic meters of desalinated water per day using Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology.
The project is expected to be complete within 24 months from contract signing, the statement added.
The contract is among 19 new projects to be awarded improve the quality of drinking water in the Eastern Province at a value of SAR 12.6 billion, said Abdulrahman Al Fadli, the Saudi minister of environment, water and agriculture.
