The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has decided to postpone the new contractor category system it planned to launch early July, Al Yaum newspaper reported, citing Osama Al Afaleq, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority’s (SCA).
Contractors were formally notified of the postponement days ago, as the new system still needs time to determine the weak and strong points related to its end-results before including all contractors in it, he said.
SCA is currently cooperating with a consultant on setting up categorization and evaluation systems for private sector contractors, as the new system doesn’t cover them or the sector’s sub-contractors. The new system only covers the public contracting firms that amount to 3,700 companies, Al Afaleq added.
Last month, the ministry of municipal affairs said it plans to launch a new contractor category system aiming to end stalling projects, Argaam previously reported.
