Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s (SAFF) general assembly approved on Thursday to end its broadcast agreement with MBC Group, it said in a statement.
The general assembly also approved a broadcast and sponsorship deal with Saudi Telecom (STC).
According to data compiled by Argaam, in February STC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SAFF and the General Sports Authority (GSA) to obtain the exclusive broadcast rights for local football tournaments.
Under the 10-year contract, getting the exclusive rights will be valued at SAR 660 million to be paid annually for 10 years, with a total value of about SAR 6.6 billion.
After several extensions, the MoU’s last deadline is August 1.
