Saudi mobile subscribers rise 2% in Q2

Saudi Arabia's number of mobile subscribers rose by 2.4 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to 43 million in Q2 2018, with a market penetration rate of 132 percent, data issued by Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) showed.

 

Prepaid subscriptions accounted for 71.5 percent, or 31 million of the total mobile users.

 

Fixed-line subscribers reached 3.34 million, a 10.2 percent QoQ decrease, with a market penetration rate of 31.6 percent. Residential fixed-lines reached 1.74 million lines, accounting for 52 percent of the total fixed-lines.

 

Broadband users dropped 1.2 percent QoQ to 31.1 million for Q2 2018. Mobile broadband users reached 29.1 million, while fixed broadband subscribers were around 2 million.
