TASI rises in early trade; crude inches higher

Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) edged up 0.15 percent, or 15 points, to 8,012 points at 11.30 am Saudi time on Tuesday, amid trading worth nearly SAR 670 million.

 

TASI had closed 0.3 percent, or 22 points, at 8,000 points, with total trading worth SAR 2 billion on Monday.

 

In the global market arena, the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 1 percent, or 259 points, to 26,049 points.

 

Brent crude rose 0.3 percent to $76.44 a barrel, while WTI crude was up 0.03 percent to $68.89 early today.

 

Gold inched down, as the dollar firmed against yuan, making the yellow metal expensive for buyers in China.

 

Spot gold fell 0.2 percent to $1,209.04 an ounce, after hitting its highest level since Aug. 13 at $1,212.38 on Monday.

 

In Saudi Arabia, the gold price is SAR 4,540.89 an ounce.
