Egypt plans to issue its first international sovereign sukuk in the financial year 2019-2020, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing Finance Minister Mohamed Maait.
The size of the proposed offering was not given.
Egypt is planning to issue nearly $20 billion in foreign currency-denominated bonds by 2022, which will allow it to attract a new class of investors, the report said.
