Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) will deliver the world’s largest mobile substation, with 380 kilo volt (kv) and 502 mega volt ampere (MVA) capacity, in January, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) has reported.
The Kingdom’s utility provider signed four agreements to purchase mobile substations of the same capacity.
“The first substation was manufactured in Belgium and is ready to be shipped. It is estimated to be delivered by next January, and will be operated after tests are finalized,” SPA reported, citing Waleed Al-Saadi, Vice President for Technical Services at the National Grid Company.
The remaining three substations will be manufactured and shipped to the Kingdom in phases, as of the coming year, he added.
