Saudi Arabia’s King Salman will inaugurate the SAR 85 billion ($22.7 billion) Waad Al-Shamaal mining project today.
He will launch the project’s first phase with SAR 55 billion ($14.7 billion) in investments, and lay the foundation for the second phase with total investments of SAR 30 billion ($8 billion).
The project features a 440 square-kilometer city for mining industries in the Kingdom’s northern region.
“Aimed at creating 10,000 jobs, the project costs SAR 85 billion and is a part of an industrial scheme to open the Kingdom’s northern region to development,” Al-Arabiya quoted Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih as saying on Monday.
