The Arar Port Development project on the Saudi-Iraq border is expected to generate massive economic opportunities including job offers for Saudi nationals, Saudi Gazette reported on Sunday.
This was revealed during King Salman’s recent tour of the Northern Border region, which witnessed the inauguration of 65 development projects.
The Arar Port project will be developed over an area of 1.6 million square meters and at a total value SAR 259 million, the report said.
It will include a logistics zone that will serve as the Kingdom’s northern economic gate, connecting Saudi Arabia with Europe and Asia, boosting trade relations with Iraq, and attracting local and regional investments.
The project will revamp and establish customs and immigration offices on both sides of the border to better serve passengers, administrative buildings for security sectors, and other customs related buildings, the report added.
