The total value of assets held by investment funds in Saudi Arabia rose 4 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to SAR 283.5 billion in Q3 2018, data issued by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) showed.
The increase was driven by a 9 percent QoQ rise in the total value of assets held by private funds in Q3 to SAR 165.6 billion. Private funds account for 58 percent of total fund assets in the Kingdom.
The value of public investment funds edged down 1 percent from the previous quarter to SAR 117.9 billion.
The number of subscribers in Saudi investment funds rose to 330,800 in the third quarter from 315,100 in Q2 2018.
Meanwhile, the number of subscribers in public investment funds jumped 5 percent QoQ to 326,900 for the quarter.

The value of assets held by money market and equity funds stood at SAR 69.6 billion and SAR 21.7 billion respectively in Q3, representing 77 percent of total public funds’ assets.

Meanwhile, the value of assets held by equity and real estate funds came in at SAR 99.7 billion and SAR 57.3 billion respectively, accounting for 95 percent of the total assets of private funds.
