Regional steel and iron companies must be agile enough to improve and restructure operating models in order to transform performance in this new era, Mohammed Al-Zahrani, president of Hadeed, a Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) company, said on Wednesday.

“Risk environment is changing, requiring a strong risk management culture. “Collectively we have the opportunity to take advantage of improvements in the market, but there are also challenges to overcome,” Al-Zahrani said on the sidelines of the 22nd annual Middle East Iron and Steel Conference (MEIS) in Dubai.

The annual event bought together every market influential company in the steel ecosystem to create opportunities for industry collaboration and partnerships.
