Prices of construction materials in Saudi Arabia rose in 2018, led by cables, which jumped 16 percent year-on-year (YoY), data issued by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) show.
Steel prices increased 13 percent YoY to SAR 2,541.67 per ton for the same period, whereas wood prices rose 6 percent YoY.
On the other hand, cement prices edged down 0.6 percent YoY to SAR 12.73 per bag – the lowest level in 12 years.
Ready-mix concrete fell 4 percent YoY to an average price of SAR 173 per cubic meter last year.
