Saudi Arabia will begin drafting the public health law under the supervision of the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Weqaya), Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Minister of Health Tawfig Al-Rabiah.
The new scheme will be implemented in three phases, namely studying the status quo of Saudi laws, developing a detailed plan for drafting the law, and laying down the public health law with its executive regulations.
“The law aims to set priorities of public health and needs, in line with international standards to boost international cooperation in public health fields,” Al-Rabiah said.
It also seeks to combine the efforts of ministries and competent authorities to achieve public health goals across the Kingdom.
The law will also maintain family health, provide legal governance framework and assign various responsibilities to stakeholders, he added.
