Saudi Arabia has received requests for qualification (RFQ) from 100 companies to build seven renewable energy projects across the Kingdom, Turki Al Shehri, Head of Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO), told Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper on Tuesday.
Bidders came from 35 countries worldwide, with 57 firms registered in Saudi Arabia.
The qualification process will be implemented on an almost monthly basis. RFQs are expected by the end of this month, Al Shehri said, adding that qualified bidders will be announced within one or two months.
Last month, REPDO launched the second round of its solar power tender program for 1.51 gigawatts (GW) of solar projects, Argaam reported.
REPDO has invited expressions of interest for the development and construction of seven new solar PV independent power producer projects.
Saudi Arabia is planning to implement 12 renewable energy projects to produce about four GW of electricity from solar and wind power.
