Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih on Wednesday said that OPEC and its partners were “taking it easy” in response to a tweet from US President Donald Trump calling on oil producers to "relax" their efforts to boost oil prices.
“We are taking it easy. The 25 countries are taking a 'very slow and measured approach'. Just as the second half of last year proved, we are interested in market stability first and foremost,” CNBC reported quoting Al-Falih at a Riyadh conference.
International benchmark Brent crude futures were trading up at 91 cents (+ 1.5 percent), at $66.12 per barrel (3.30 pm Riyadh time), while the US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose $1 (+ 1.8 percent), at $56.52 a barrel.
