Jeff Bezos was the world's richest person followed by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, according to the latest Forbes list of the ultra-wealthy.
Bezos, who holds 16 percent of Amazon, saw his wealth rising $19 billion in one year to $131 billion.
Gates, a philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft, net worth rose to $96.5 billion, up from $90 billion.
Buffett, 88, holds the third place on the list as his fortune slipped by $1.5 billion to $82.5 billion, the magazine estimated.
Americans still dominate the list with 14 of the top 20 billionaires from the US. Non-Americans among the top 20 include India's Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, in 13th place, and China's Ma Huateng, head of the Chinese internet giant Tencent.
US President Donald Trump rose from the 766th richest person in the world to the 715th-richest, despite his fortune remaining flat at $3.1 billion.
