Saudi Arabia's National Agricultural Development Co (NADEC) has awarded a contract to build and supply the industrial equipment for Asia’s largest olive oil mill in Al Jouf region to Germany-based GEA Group.
The order is the second phase of an ongoing project and will enlarge the existing olive oil plant which was built in 2016, GEA said in a statement on Tuesday.
The new phase will involve civil engineering, automation engineering, processes and all the necessary industrial equipment to manage the olive oil plant successfully.
The scope of the project is expected to encompass five million olive trees from a single farm of 3,000 hectares, the statement noted.
“Once the construction process is completed, this facility will be largest and most modern olive oil mill in Asia,” said Rafael Cárdenas, head of the Center of Excellence for Olive Oil at GEA.
The contract to build the Al-Jouf olive oil mill is the second phase of an ongoing project and will enlarge the existing olive oil plant that was built in 2016.
