Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf on Tuesday welcomed the US sanctions imposed on Iranian oil exports.

The minister expressed the Kingdom's full support for the step taken by the US as a necessary step to compel the Iranian regime to stop its destabilizing policies, support and sponsorship of terrorism around the world, state news agency SPA reported.

He reaffirmed the Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih’s statement on the Kingdom's keenness to continue its firm policy, which seeks to achieve stability in the markets at all times, while ensuring the global oil market does not go out of balance.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump decided not to reissue waivers in May allowing importers to buy Iranian oil without facing US sanctions.
