Prices of 99 goods and services in Saudi Arabia rose year-on-year (YoY) in May 2019, while prices of 60 commodities dropped, official data issued by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
Out of the total of 88 food products, prices of 55 items increased YoY for the month, while prices of other 32 products decreased.
Prices of American cardamom jumped the most by 18 percent YoY, while local figs saw the biggest drop at 18 percent YoY.
As for non-food commodities, the prices of eight items rose in May, with the local paper tissues “Fine” recording the biggest rise at 6 percent YoY.
The prices of nine out of 13 services were up last month compared to May 2018.
Prices of six fodder and livestock products increased in May.
Meanwhile, prices of 21 construction materials increased for the month, while 16 materials fell. The 10 mm-rebar rose 7.48 percent YoY.
