Dawiyat Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC), has finalized the first stage of deploying optical fiber networks in Sudair and Jeddah’s Second industrial cities.
Targeting 39 cities, the initiative is part of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP)’s ICT infrastructure for the industrial cities, which aims at developing the digital infrastructure to enable modern technologies (5G & IoT), Saudi Press Agency has reported.
In January, NIDLP and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed a cooperation agreement with Dawiyat and other telecom companies to deploy the ICT infrastructure for the industrial cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The five industrial cities of the first phase include Dammam Second Industrial City, Jeddah Second Industrial City, Jeddah Third Industrial City, Sudair Industrial City, and Kharj Industrial City, with a total area of 500 million square meters.
The second stage of deploying fiber optic networks in the other three industrial cities is currently being carried out.
